Classic Tented Thornybush Safari Experience
Welcome to the wild with its spectacular wildlife sightings, friendly staff, comfortable accommodation and delicious dining. Whether you're a first-time visitor to the Greater Kruger region or a seasoned traveller, game viewing excursions in the Thornybush Game Reserve are sure to spoil you with sights that can be compared to no other.
Day 1: Johannesburg - Thornybush Game Reserve
A flight from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit followed by a road transfer will deliver you to your lodge, an intimate stay in the heart of the Thornybush. Located in the Greater Kruger National Park, the region is synonymous with spectacular wildlife sightings.
After settling into your tented safari suite, explore the bush on an afternoon game drive escorted by a trained and experienced guide. Learn more about the wildlife of South Africa as the local guides share their tales of the bushveld.
You will end your first exciting day on safari with dinner around the boma under the stars.
Day 2: Wildlife Safari in Thornybush Game Reserve
Depending on the wildlife activity, you may be invited to step out into the wilderness and examine the spoor with guidance from your tracker. Coffee and tea is offered in a remote area of the bush, before returning to a hearty breakfast either at the lodge or in a quiet spot in the bush. Relax at the lodge before the afternoon game viewing activities. Have a swim or spend time relaxing watching the waterhole with stunning bush veld views.
After enjoying day of adventure and indulging in a late lunch prepared and served by the lodge's friendly staff. Once your taste buds have been satisfied and you've had some time at your own leisure, the afternoon game drive will depart and cruise into the spectacular sunset.
Your guide will take you to a scenic spot, where you will be offered sundowners and culinary delights as you watch the sun make its descent into the never-ending horizon of savannah plains.
On your return to the lodge, you might be lucky enough to spot the elusive nightlife of the bush, as they slowly make their way into the open bush. Your day of game viewing will be concluded with a 3-course dinner, waiting either at the lodge, in a remote part of the bush, or at a traditional boma evening.Your dinner will be followed by post-dinner drinks around the blazing campfire, while gazing up into a sky of simmering stars. Return to your suit for a good night's rest in preparation for a final morning game drive and your departure from the lodge the next day.
Day 3: Thornybush - Johannesburg
After an early morning wakeup call, you will depart for a final morning game drive. Monitor the bush as its resident wildlife becomes active to the sound of chirping birds. Enjoy the diverse showcase of co-existing mammals, reptiles, amphibians as well as bird and plant life. Upon return to the lodge, enjoy a hearty breakfast before returning to your suit to pack your belongings and prepare for your departure from the lodge.
A 30-minute road transfer back to Hoedspruit will be the opportune time to capture your final wildlife sightings on camera or film. At Hoedspruit Airport, you will board a 1-hour flight to Johannesburg's O.R. Tambo International Airport, where you will meet your onward travel arrangements.
