Shumbalala Game Lodge is situated on the banks of the seasonal Monwana River in Thornybush Game Reserve, South Africa. Thornybush is located in the Greater Kruger National Park area and the lodge is conveniently only a 30 minute drive from Hoedspruit Airport which is serviced with regular flights from OR Tambo International Airport and Cape Town International Airport. Johannesburg is also only a 5 hour drive away
How to get there
By Road
Airport transfers (30 min) can be arranged. If you drive from Pretoria or Johannesburg on the N4 to Belfast, you take the R36 to Ohrigstad, then the R531/R527 through Hoedspruit to the T junction. Turn right in direction of Klaserie. After 7km turn right into Argyle Road, follow the signboards to Thornybush Game Reserve.
By Air
There are scheduled flights with SA Express Airways From OR Tambo (Johannesburg) International, Cape Town International and Sun City. Transfers to and from Hoedspruit Eastgate airport are available. There is a fully tarred and serviced airstrip on Thornybush Game Reserve.
